Tony Blair sentenced to 17 years in jail, £40 million fine.

Yeah right!
So what is the purpose of this Iraq inquiry? To mock democracy? But even that is rather costly.
Anyway, no change will come from this. Why does media even cover this farce?

Al-Qaeda sympathizer arrested in Norway before Obama visit.

Police Security Service (PST) have arrested two people due to suspected violations of the Arms Act. Oslo police assisted in the arrest.

This information has come forward in connection with a investigation with PST, PST reports on their websites.

Together with information from previous criminal cases and the actual security situation in Oslo this week, the PST found it appropriate to apprehend these two at this time, said PST.

Attorney John Christian Elden confirms that Arfan Bhatti is one of the two arrested.

Arfan Bhatti was in 2006 accused of having planned a terrorist act. He was later acquitted of this.

Bhatti was arrested at 17 o’clock today. It was not made any seizures or new discoveries in connection with the arrest. It is solely a question of  risk elimination before the Obama visit. “Bhatti was prepared for the arrest”said John Christian Elden.

Elden says Bhatti asked for permission to leave Oslo at the Obama-visit. But he was not, according to the lawyer, allowed to by the security police.

Not familiar with the Nobel-threats.
PST is not aware of there being any concrete threats to the peace prize ceremony, or events in connection with the deal.

Information manager Martin Bernsen in PST would not say anything to further if the case is connected with other matters. He confirmed that the Oslo police assisted by the arrest.

Bersen adds that the PST currently not want to comment beyond what’s in the press release.
Neither the Oslo Police wants to comment on the matter.
The Justice Department would not comment on the arrests tonight, they refer to the PST.

Police attorney Thomas Blom in PST has prepared the preliminary charges against Bhatti and his friend. Blom has also led the investigation of the so-called terror case against Bhatti.

Barack Obama is coming to Norway on Thursday morning to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The security system around Obama and the events he will attend, is enormous.

Formally, it is the police in Norway which is responsible for the president’s security as long as he is in Norway. They receive assistance from the military and the U.S. Secret Service, where a vanguard is already in Oslo to be here until 11th December. They have also obtained assistance from the Swedish and Danish police on the equipment side.

DR Congo stays Norway

Copied from Beeb:

Norway has said it has been assured by the Democratic Republic of Congo that two Norwegian nationals sentenced to death will not now be executed.

Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said he had received the guarantee from his DRC counterpart, Alexis Thambwe Mwamba.

Joshua French, who holds joint British-Norwegian nationality, and Tjostolv Moland were convicted in September of murdering a taxi driver and spying.

The two men lost an appeal at a military tribunal on 3 December.

Mr Stoere said that Mr Thambwe Mwamba had assured him during a conversation that a moratorium on executions in DR Congo meant that the death sentence would not be carried out.

The tribunal appeal in Kisangani upheld the death sentences on Moland and French – former Norwegian soldiers convicted of murdering their Congolese driver.

They and the Norwegian state were also ordered to pay $500m (£300m) in damages.

The rulings drew immediate international protests amid claims of miscarriages of justice.

Norwegian national broadcaster NRK says the pair plan to appeal against the sentence in Kinshasa’s supreme court, AP news agency reports.

Moland and French have been held since May this year since their Congolese driver was found shot dead.

Both men deny murdering Abedi Kasongo, 47, maintaining that he was shot and killed when their car was ambushed by gunmen on the road near the city of Kisangani.

Man killed, eaten, the rest sold to a kebab shop in Russia

Suspected cannibals killed a young man, ate parts of him and then sold other bits to a kebab shop.
Cops also believe the 25-year-old victim’s body parts may have been used to fill pies too.

The trio of homeless guys were arrested in Russia – accused of murdering the man with knives and a hammer.
Prosecutors revealed: “After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up – part of it was eaten and part of it was sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies.”
Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm – which is 720 miles east of Moscow.

The three men all have criminal records, said Russian cops.
They have been arrested on suspicion of killing their victim – who has not been named – before chopping up his corpse to eat.

Detectives for the Prem region released the astonishing statement that the human remains could have been used for kebabs and pies on their http://www.susk.perm.ru website.
But police said it was not clear yet if any of the human meat had been sold to customers.

Charlie Sheen sentenced to death 5 times in Congo.

Tjostolv Moland as Charlie Sheen, and Joshua French

August 28th 2009. Kinshasa, Congo.

Has Charlie Sheen just been sentenced to death 5 times in combination with a demand of 500 billion USD worth, during a trial in Congo? Well it may look like it. His real name however is Tjolstolv Moland, while his equally unlucky parner to the right on the picture is Joshua French.

A military prosecutor in Congo asked the court on Friday to sentence to death 5 times + 20 years the two Norwegians accused of killing their driver Abedi Kasongo in May earlier this year.
The two Norwegian mercenaries Joshua French (27), and Tjostolv Moland (28), are charged with murder, attempted murder, espionage, conspiracy and armed robbery, after their driver was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head in Congo’s northeastern Orientale province.

The two Norwegians have denied all allegations, and claim that their driver was shot by armed gangs. Of course, the trial wouldn’t have been a corrupt banana republic worthy if the he prosecution hadn’t also demanded this week that Norway pays Congo $500 billion in damages over the incident.

More Norwegian news

The trial continues on Tuesday. In either case the two seem to be screwed.
But at least we already know who will play Moland in the upcoming movie of the Congolese farse.
Mike Myers may play his part again too.

I hope for the sake of the victim and his family that the guilty parts will face a proper trial and be brought to justice some day.

Update, 2011:
Now with Charlie Sheen going crazy in the US, maybe it’s just a matter of time before the headline becomes true: Charlie Sheen in the news
